Mental Health Champion Events
WYS is getting the word out to local businesses, organizations, and decision makers about the important work we are doing and the impact we make every day in our community. Here is how it works:
We host a Mental Health Champion one-hour event which includes a facility tour, information about our programs and services, meeting with some of our awesome staff, and answering questions. This is not a fundraising event, but we would welcome advice and feedback of attendees.
Western Youth Services trains parents, caretakers, youth influencers, and educators about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the long-term health effects this has on our youth.
Children with 4 or more ACEs are:
7 times more likely to experience a mental health issue
3.5 times more likely to have a physical health problem
32 times more at risk for learning or behavior problems in school
By participating in this workshop, you will:
1. Experience the moving stories of the families in the documentary, Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope
2. Collaborate with community members to help our children heal from the predictable impact of ACEs
3. Leave inspired with heightened awareness and understanding to better care for our youth
This is our chance to come together and prevent future tragedies from occurring such as suicide, drug abuse, and chronic health problems.
These events are offered at no cost. Light refreshments will be served. Not recommended for children under 18.
Location: Western Youth Services Corporate Office, 23461 South Pointe Drive, Suite 205, Laguna Hills, CA 92653. These events can be hosted in one of our other locations or at your preferred location.
