Our Mission

Western Youth Services is a community-based non-profit human service agency which seeks to improve the quality of life in our community, maximize human potential and promote individual and community self-sufficiency through programs which prevent and treat mental, emotional and behavioral problems of youth and families. WYS promotes cross-cultural awareness and community partnerships in the planning, development and implementation of its programs.



Outreach and Engagement (O&E) Specialist
Transitional Age Youth (TAY)
Full-Time Temporary

Position requires bilingual (Farsi) ability. The OES will be responsible for providing outreach and support to target consumers, their families and their communities at-large. Develop relationships with community partners, develop referral sources, provide education and support to reduce stigma of mental illness. Development and implementation of workshops/presentations targeted at community organizations and TAY clients that educate on the needs of TAY and how to engage them. Refer TAY consumers to community resources, assist in obtaining services, including the O&E TAY engagement program. The OES will also work directly with TAY consumers to identify specific needs for individual TAY clients and engage them in identified resources. The OES shall maintain and update a resource guide and assist in developing other informational resources for dissemination to consumers. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences or related field. Must have a valid California driver’s license; and speak, read and write in a designated second (other than English) language. First Aid and CPR certified preferred. Knowledgeable, or willing to learn, about TAY-specific resources. Experience working with allied professionals and the ability to interface with County and industry contacts highly preferred. Familiarity and awareness of mental health screening literature, promotional tools or activities highly desired.

Setting: Primarily field/community, with some office contacts.
