Our Mission

Western Youth Services is a community-based non-profit human service agency which seeks to improve the quality of life in our community, maximize human potential and promote individual and community self-sufficiency through programs which prevent and treat mental, emotional and behavioral problems of youth and families. WYS promotes cross-cultural awareness and community partnerships in the planning, development and implementation of its programs.



Psychologist
Anaheim
Part-Time (20 hours)

The Lead Psychologist simultaneously supervises pre-doctoral psychology interns and practicum trainees and is responsible for developing, carrying out, and modeling an empirically supported psychotherapeutic program for emotionally disturbed clients; including administration and interpretation of a variety of psycho-diagnostic tests; and preparation of psychological reports.  

Responsibilities: Develops and updates empirically supported patient treatment plans for own and supervisees’ clients based on mental health literature, or APA and California Evidence Based Clearinghouse guidelines. Provides evidenced-based treatment to children and their families. Maintains working knowledge of recent psychological test updates and testing protocols. Administers, interprets, and supervises appropriately chosen psychometric instruments (including psycho-educational, objective and projective measures), writes reports, provides recommendations and feedback to client, family, and other clinicians. Maintains consistent individual, group and collateral sessions with patients as needed. Consults with schools, other involved agencies and support systems as clinically indicated. Documents patient treatment and progress for proper maintenance of patient’s record and ensures such documentation for supervisees.  Develops and directs interns’ and practicum students’ training. Facilitates referrals to other WYS program as appropriate.  Abides by the ethical standards of the American Psychological Association and ensures WYS training program meets these standards.  In training and supervision, abides by the Guidelines and Principles of the APA Committee on Accreditation. Acts as the training program representative. Provides individual and group clinical supervision, and per Agency and APA requirements. Participates in staff training programs, may provide mentoring for other clinicians. Develops one to two areas of clinical expertise and trains intern class in these areas. Provides formal presentations/seminars on evidence based practices and research. Provides or oversees direct service for 50 hours/month per .5 FTE.  Participates in monthly Psychology Training Committee meetings. Supports development of supervisees’ knowledge of Empirically Supported Treatments Provides informal oral feedback to interns and students in a timely fashion.  Provides written feedback consistent with Internship program requirements and as needed for performance management. Collaborates with the regional Program Coordinator to ensure compliance with Medi-Cal standards.  Collaborates with Director of Training to ensure training, supervision, and management of interns is consistent with the Internship Training Manual and APA requirements. . Provides leadership through a 3-6 month planning cycle. Maintains working knowledge of Agency policies and procedures, operational and clinical guidelines, HIPAA standards, documentation manual, and Medi-Cal standards. Participates in key meetings and decisions as appropriate including, but not limited to all mandatory Agency meetings.


Minimum qualifications:
Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited graduate program, completion of formal organized pre-doctoral internship program, one to two years experience post doctoral degree, one year clinical supervision experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current California Licensure in Psychology required. Working knowledge of CA Board of Psychology laws and regulations required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret pertinent mental health reports and all applicable regulations. Ability to write clear and concise reports, business correspondence, and procedures with conformance to the prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information orally and in writing in one-on-one, small group, and large groups situations, including the ability to effectively respond to questions from small and large groups of employees, and managers. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
